Willa Browne A’29

Willa Browne

Mate #229

Hometown: Pacific Palisades, CA

Pronouns: she/her/hers

Major: English

In her “Why Tufts” essay, Willa wrote, “I hope that my passion for a cappella will thrive within the Amalgamates!” #manifestingqueen

Willa was born and raised in Los Angeles and has the California superiority complex to prove it! She can be seen around campus or Boston’s touristy areas with a dorm-made matcha latte, knitting project, a good book, and an unecessary amount of layers (she’s still adjusting to Boston weather).

As a wee little girl, Willa dabbled in a new instrument every year: the piano, violin, cello, flute, and finally found one that stuck: voice! Her singing journey thus began, and she would belt “Don’t Rain on my Parade” in the shower at 6 in the morning (much to the joy of her neighbors). Since then, shes been in over a decade of voice lessons and three seperate productions of the musical hit, Annie. Willa loves taking advantage of any form of organized performing, as was part of her high school’s choirs, a capella, and theater group. She found a knack for playing neglected British children when she played Matilda Wormwood and Oliver Twist…and now, she finds so much joy in being a ‘Mate!

Outside of the ‘Mates, Willa is studying English Literature and Film, and hopes to return to LA after her time at Tufts to sell her soul to the entertainment industry.
