Rafeed Nabi Anwar

Mate #215

Hometown: Dhaka, Bangladesh

Pronouns: He/him/his

Major: Computer Science

Solos: Always Something There To Remind Me

Rafeed was born as a premature baby in Chittagong, Bangladesh but he lived in the bustling capital Dhaka all his life. As a proud Bangladeshi, Rafeed is always enthusiastic to share tales of his land with everyone.

The premature baby was one of the skinniest kids in his school for quite a while till he suddenly turned into a big foodie. Rafeed started learning music at his home from the age of 6. Although he would initially run away whenever his music teacher came, his passion for singing gradually exploded. He has been learning Indian Classical Vocal Music and desires to be able to master it in his lifetime.

He has also been a regular part of his school’s choir ever since he started singing. Like everything else, his younger brother is his ultimate partner in singing. They always sing and practice together whenever they are at home. Apart from singing Rafeed can also play the harmonium and guitar. He is excited to have a blast with the Mates during his time at Tufts.  As far as academics is concerned, he studies Computer Science (nerd alert!).

Outside of music, there are two things Rafeed loves the most: food and cricket. He loves watching cricket and never misses a single match when Bangladesh plays. You can find him doing all superstitious things while he is watching a match. He keeps thinking about food every time. From Biriyani to Dim sum, Rafeed loves exploring different types of food (they’d better be tasty). He will be more than happy if you want to take him out for a meal.
